Why do so many veggie restaurants close?
I was just thinking about the fact that almost all of my favourite veggie restaurants in London have closed. I know restaurants in general have a hard time staying open at the moment but does the veggie thing make matters worse? Even though a lot of these places I went to were absolutely jam packed?Â
1. Eat and Two Veg - Marlebone, London. I still crave their chicken skewers and mocha milkshake. It was always so busy, I don't understand :'(
2. Veggie Inn - Harrow, London. A great oriental inspired 100% vegan restaurant. The food was incredible but as much as I liked it I was aware that it was often quiet in there and they were hidden away on a residential street.Â
3. Karma Free Pizza - Eastcote, London. Delicious pizzas but they closed last year too!
4. Red Veg - Central London and Brighton. This place was always booming. It was like a healthier eco friendly mcdonalds. Sumptuous veggie burgers and fries and the best pesto pasta. I thought they were supposed to be re-opening at another location but I've heard nothing else about them.
If anybody knows if any of these restaurants have re-opened elsewhere please let me know : )
On the other hand veggie restaurants still going strong in London that I can personally recommend...
2. 222 Veggie Vegan - West Kensington - Best mushroom stroganoff!
4. The Gallery Cafe - Bethnal Green
There are plenty more that I haven't been to yet which I am looking forward to in the future.
I'd also recommend checking out Whole Foods stores which are in Piccadilly, Kensington, Camden and I think Clapham/RIchmond? They have a lot of great vegan meals and vegan alternatives for cooking.Â
