remember when I dropped i01 and said that it was “the first in what probably will end up being a new series of EPs or mixtapes of random tracks that i've been working on?”

well, here’s part 02.

this is been in development since november of 2016 and has gone through so many different revisions, tracklists, and designs that i almost quit making music altogether. the original plan was to put out a collection of low effort material, but over time that idea morphed into something with substance. i02 started with some of the songs from 34U, but that wasn’t enough: i needed to make a new mixtape. eighteen months of my life rolled through, and finally, i have something for you all to listen to. just like the original Interim release, there’s eight unreleased tracks in this set that feature my production, now alongside seventeen of my favorite tracks i’ve heard in the past year or so.

yeah, you’re right, sounds like a bad deal. you’re listening to a mix that’s just 32% original content. what was I thinking?

maybe I’ll put out a companion EP featuring all the other songs i made for this project that ultimately weren’t included...

been meaning to write this for quite some time now. it’s been a good run, i guess. but not really. i definitely spent more money than i made on this project, and the limited exposure i received wasn’t really worth it.

i’ve enjoyed meeting a bunch of interesting, like-minded creatives while making music for the past five years. it was a joy to collaborate on projects that i truly thought were dope. shoutout to all of you.

lately though, i’ve had no real motivation to work on anything new. i have plenty of unreleased tracks sitting on my hard drive, but i have literally no interest in releasing them. whenever i make a new track, i go through this cycle that starts with me not liking what i’m working on, to the track finally growing on me, to thinking that it’s worth being released, and finally ending with disappointment from only receiving twelve plays. the highs don’t really match the lows. it sucks but it’s true.

yeah, i know, i could spend time actually promoting my tracks around, but i just don’t have the time. i also haven’t really had that much time to work on music at all. when the payoff isn’t there, it’s not really worth my time, ya know? why spend my whole weekend on a few songs when i can go out and take pictures and actually get paid for some side work?

so this is goodbye for now. there’s a couple things i might still release if i care enough but most likely not. dj dad bod might stick around just because it’s a cool name. i might personally do some music stuff still but it’ll be way less serious than ever before.
