I spent todayās lesson frantically dialing the number for Big picture becuase I didnt have the date/name on the back of my brochure. Luckily I phoned just in time and was able to email through a new PDF but sadly I was put to the back of the que and they said it would be ready on Monday afternoon but now have suspected pick up at 9am Tuesday morning, right before hand in. Very nervous, especially if something isnāt quite right..
My brochures intention is to supply the youth with a fun and quirky guide to Wellington City through the much loved social media app, Instagram. I intend for my project to give my audience an essence of excitement, enjoyment and laughter produced through visual illustration and text. The locations chosen are in relation to personal experiences and, through media research, the most common images posted. Each spread has the intention of connecting with the audience through drawings, shapes and bright colours inspired by 60ā²s retro tones and the popular Wellington locations. I found the target audience predominantly linked to 14-23 year olds so, naturally, created designs in a manner that would enhance appeal such as bright tones, youthful illustrations and funny side notes. The drawings I created were used to hold bold colour and project clean lines, creating a strong an demanding visual element. I used a small range of fonts throughout the titles and labeling that helped connect each section together. Size and hierarchy is used in text an imagery with the overall affect to demand attention and convince the audience to continue throughout the pages. Grid was used to create consistent layout and format when working with typography and visual elements. Grid lines was also used to create common colour balance throughout the spreads. In the future Iād like to take illustration design to another level with a more detailed approach as a further challenge an also create more brainstorm mock ups of my pages which would allow me to have more experimentation with options.
