the thing that scares me about Anthem is that if this destiny-esque shooter takes off for bioware, will they favour these types of games instead of story driven, fully immersive single player RPG experiences?
when thinking about games that are like the traditional BioWare RPGs w/ squadmates, romance, an involved story where your choices matter and a single player campaign - there’s really not any. games with romances are usually pre-selected partners, squadmates don’t matter and the story choices don’t seem to matter
if we lose these types of games from bioware, there’s nothing to really take their place - and it looks like w/ andromeda’s lack of support from devs and us that we might be losing the single player experience in favour for mmo’s like Anthem will be
i’m not saying don’t play Anthem, hell i’ll probably even play it - but i feel like if people could show more support towards andromeda, and the new dragon age game that will likely come out soonish instead of going “the original trilogy was better!!!!!” (it happened w/ andromeda and it’ll happen with the new da - people are desperate to relive the past games but not support newer takes) then it might show that we do want new games with a single player narrative, even if it’s not like the original games and not push bioware towards dumping everything for a game they know will have wide market appeal (leaving work on andromeda the kinda niche game for Anthem the online fps)
