This was probably the truly easy one to choose, because, how could I not talk about Kyung Yi? One of my favorite things about the show is the fact that she never gets a makeover, and even if I wish she would shower more, the way she presents herself is how she feels comfortable. Kyung Yi gets to grow as a person and trust others, but she never stops being the person she was in the beginning. She still has trauma, she loves video games, eating and drinking beer, and she is very messy. That’s fine, and we as viewers also grow to love her messiness. Inspector Koo is probably the most original drama that I’ve seen (School Nurse Files aside) and it’s just so fun to see an actress such as Lee Young Ae playing the complete opposite of her celebrity persona. And you see how much fun she has playing Kyung Yi, because not only she loves the character, the script loves Kyung Yi so much. She is the heart of the show, and she does not have to change her appearance, or her particularities in order to fit in. Team B loves her as she is, the way the show also asks us to love her like this. The fact that she is a total weirdo and never stops being one (while also being played by an actor in her 50s) is just amazing. I could say much more, but I have a feeling she will be a lot of people’s choice today.
