BALLAD OF DETROIT BANKRUPTCY BUS TOUR
Just sit right back And you’ll hear a tale A tale of a fateful trip, That started from towers in Southfield, Aboard this big ole bus The mate was a pasty white chap The Judge brave and sure, A dozen passengers set out that day, For a three hour tour, A three hour tour.
The housing started getting rough, As Brightmore’s blight was entered. The colonial crew kept its course, otherwise The tour would be lost. The tour would be lost.
The bus set ground at the DIA To view the art at risk With FGIC, Ms Erickson too. Assured Guaranty And Syncora, Selected city officials and Oakland County, Here on the Bankruptcy Bus Tour.
(Ending verse)
So this is the tale of Detroit’s bankruptcy It’s been completed quickly. Detroit’s pensioners have to make the best of things, Their planned financial futures stripped.
The City’s COO, FAB and Mayor Will do their very best, To make speculating creditors comf’terble In this urban nest.
No phone, no lights, no scheduled bus, In the Blue Green rewilded zones With urban farms giving us our best As demolition plans lay waste of our homes
But if you explore this city deeper still You’re sure you’ll find the resourceful Getting by with fewer services Here in Detroit City!

I practice from my successes and I learn from my mistakes. This is Learning to Live.

Propaganda is controversy over our social consciousness. Propaganda is a challenge to view differently or voice support in opposition to or favor with our socially accepted norms.
Stephen Boyle
Hope springs eternal, yet is too frequently cloaked in despair. Our worldly fears and concerns drown our senses. Punch drunk in stupor from the barrage of injustices encountered daily. We stumble about hoping each day for something different to ignite the desire and passion in our lives. Sometimes we become dependent on joy being found outside us. This is frequently how our children are educated and their experiences reinforce it. However true hope comes from embracing the creator within us. Finding health and growth in a fresh breeze, clean water, and fertile soil for our gardens. Hope arrives on sunbeams shining on new perspectives, seeing truth rather than living through rumors and falsehoods. Hope inspires our creative connection. It rises up to dispel fear. It is how we succeed against the odds perceived stacked so high against us. We find courage to rediscover hope appearing lost by uniting with others, hearing them, looking in their eyes, and conversing. Our experiences magnify through unity, and difficult objectives become manageable. So when you find yourself in despair ask yourself, "have I expanded the community around me?" Engage in a big enough conversation, listening well for lessons and anything can be accomplished. Then, we acknowledge the love unity brings. Hope truly springing eternally.
Stephen Boyle, June 11 2014
We learn through failure. We practice through success.
