He swats away the fingers that poke lightly into his side, but they migrate to his ribs instead. He can’t keep the smile from rising to his face and flushes, biting his lip.
“We’re in a library,” he hisses, but Caleb wisps his fingers across the back of his neck.
Laughter bubbles in his throat, and Caleb captures it before it leaves his mouth. He melts into the kiss.
Then Caleb jabs at his side again. He yelps.
“We’re in a library,” Caleb mocks.
“Quite the betrayal, Widogast.”
Caleb laughs against his mouth. “That’s what you get for trusting me.”

Augury — post-canon, with Essek
This one is a simple one: Essek goes to Fjord for advice. Still searching for a good start and finish on this one.
He opened his eyes, took a breath more shallow than he truly wanted it to be, and turned over the cup. At the bottom, he saw only loose tea. He sighed out the rest of that breath. "What does it say?" Fjord asked. Essek's face felt hot. "It's just the bottom of a teacup." Fjord smiled. "Of course. That's all it is." He gently took the saucer and teacup from Essek's hands and began to pack the tea service onto the wooden tray. "Many years ago, Jester and I had a conversation about faith in the gods and their signs. We talked about how some take a random occurrence, like a strong breeze at a certain moment, to be an omen. Even if it wasn't one, even if it was putting meaning to nothing. My magic can't make wet tea leaves tell your future, but you turning over a cup expecting something still can tell you about what you wanted to hear." Fjord picked up the tray and stood to carry it into the kitchens.

I know Essek *said* he can't leave his post, but do you think that the Nein could covince him anyway? Bc like, something along the lines of "a member of the Cerberus Assembly was murdered, and her murderer also killed one of your excavation parties" seems mighty convincing
the way I interpreted “can’t” there was actually exactly that—I feel like he can’t leave in the same way that you couldn’t just peace out while at work; plus I imagine it’s tremendously stupid for him to head out into the eiselcross tundra alone and... it seems like he wouldn’t necessarily want to bring anyone along to meet them where the nein are involved haha, especially if he doesn’t know what they want from him
also why I get why jester, with only 25 words, didn’t lead with the dead expedition, but... yeah I’ll be very intrigued to see if his ability to leave the outpost changes hearing that an expedition is dead

What thoughts on Fjord haven’t I told YOU?
Generally speaking, I think Fjord is under-appreciated in how reassuring and calming he is in his private one-on-one conversations with the Nein. He did just say he’s a little confused as to why his friends come to him as if they expect him to know things, because that’s a lie and a facade, but he has a very steady and soothing manner.
I’m thinking of his tone of voice and reassuring manner in all the conversations with Jester here in the Rumblecusp arc, with Caleb on the ship in 2.98, with Beau in the Gentleman’s bar in 2.92, and back and back and back.
I mean, it’s more than that. Fjord is also a very big fan of talking through a problem with all its sides and offering actionable items as solutions. There’s also his tendency to be so gentle when coaxing people into being open with him, encouraging but never forcing, always leaving room so they can pull back and being understanding and gracious should they choose to. That also contributes a lot to this sense of steadiness and the calming influence.
But, you specifically know me and how much I have to say about how Fjord lives in his voice so much, how fascinating his cadence, tonal quality, and diction are. Genuinely, I find there’s something just in Fjord’s manner when his friends go to him for advice or to pour their hearts out to him that’s just very calming and steadying. There’s a grounding quality there in his demeanor and his voice.
Even if he doesn’t have answers necessarily, the Nein go to Fjord to be reassured and calmed. And it’s because it’s so hard to be afraid when Fjord is gently speaking in that very specific cadence and tone he has in those private heart-to-hearts.
