Maybe Apollo would like the surprise. He wasn’t certain; Apollo could be a terribly serious person when he wanted to be, and tended to shout if things startled him. Still, he had sworn Trucy to secrecy on this - if only to see the look on his face.
It had been about one year ago, that Apollo had assisted him with the running of that jurist system during the Misham trial. One year ago that the past seven years of his life had finally come to fruition. He had never really planned on what he was going to do once he had exonerated himself; he had been out of the legal world (officially) for so long, that he was certain that there would have been no place for him in it any longer. A rookie from a bygone age.
Of course...when a certain someone had asked him to come back - well. He could hardly have told him no. Not after everything - but it was meant to be quiet. No muss, no fuss.
Phoenix had left the agency the day before in his usual - scruffy chin, worn old woven beanie, sandals and a drab old hoodie - nothing much to look at, vaguely schlepping back to the bus stop to catch his ride home. He almost always came in late, if he came in at all, having trusted Trucy to run the place while he was neck deep in his long-term investigation. And sure, he had really had to force himself out of bed that morning - and he had forced himself to shave, forced himself to down two cups of coffee before making his way to his trusty old bicycle - but that had been a while ago.
It was now 9 AM sharp, and he was cheerfully sitting at the desk that he had always called his own, ignoring the stacks of old papers and documents that needed to be cleaned out or filed. Gone was the hoodie, gone were the sandals and the scruff - he sat at the desk in a sharp waistcoat and an actual tie, hair groomed, and grinned a bit as the main door in the other room opened.
