✂️ Still working away on this wool coat- here I’m attaching the collar. Collars are often less prone to “creep” if you stitch both sides from the centre back outwards, which necessitates putting your bulk to the right instead of the left for this step. Something that really surprised me was that despite being aware of the increased difficulty in only having three main points of contact on my right hand with which to control this collar when sewing it on, I still managed it to the millimetre 😊 it was a very proud moment, even if it did make my hands shake a little with spare anxiety and nervous energy for a little bit afterwards because I’d assumed I would have to unpick it and try a few times. I’m lucky that the wool I’m using is so wonderfully forgiving- I’m not sure I would have managed this on my first tailored jacket from 2016 which was much thinner! It’s very important to me that I can still use my hands to ply my craft, and I’m trying to get as much hands on time as possible so I keep my skill level up. #shortfingerslongstrides #seamstress #tailoring #readytowear #wooljacket #juki #industrialsewingmachine #amputeegirl #fusibleinterfacing
