FushiTotsu, omega Saruhiko has beta Totsuka as his first mate?
Having a beta as his first mate might be something Fushimi would prefer, like he doesn’t care for alphas and all the touching and heat that’s supposed to be between alphas and omegas and he probably wishes he himself was a beta. Fushimi’s never been interested in letting anyone touch him and he’s annoyed when he finds out that he’s an omega, like this is just another useless thing that he doesn’t need. Plus at the same time say Yata’s an alpha and so are most of the Homra guys, and Fushimi is always surrounded by all these alpha scents that make his teeth clench. He takes heat suppressants and has no interest in taking a mate at all, the last thing Fushimi wants is to have to deal with the possibility of having a child or dealing with a heat and a rut.
Meanwhile Totsuka is a beta and perfectly fine with it, he thinks things work just as well this way. Maybe in this AU betas have like a ‘calming’ ability that works on both alphas and omegas and that’s part of his job in Homra, just a little scent to make everyone calm whenever the group gets too worked up. It’s not that he isn’t interested in sex or relationships it’s just not any kind of primal need like the alphas and omegas have and he’s fine with that. Fushimi one day is dealing with like headaches as a result of his heat suppressants and Totsuka decides to try and calm him down, Fushimi mutters that it must be so much better to be a beta. Totsuka is surprised that Fushimi thinks so and says that maybe it is but maybe it isn’t, there’s a lot he can’t understand about other people in this way too. The two of them end up commiserating in a sort of backhand way, Fushimi not quite able to admit his feelings about Yata and how this whole omega thing is bothersome to him, while Totsuka’s got his own feelings about Mikoto that he doesn’t bother to admit seriously due to being a beta.
After this whenever he’s having issues with his heat or side effects from the suppressants imagine Fushimi seeking Totsuka out, claiming he doesn’t like Totsuka and it’s annoying having this be the only person who can calm his headaches, but it’s clear he’s becoming more and more relaxed around Totsuka. Totsuka just finds it amusing at first but he also starts to realize that he can actually be more honest around Fushimi too, because he knows Fushimi doesn’t mind if Totsuka is someone besides the usually upbeat ‘mood maker’ of Homra. If anything Fushimi likes the darker side of Totsuka that always prods at people, as long as Totsuka isn’t prodding at him. Maybe it’s Totsuka who suggests it too, if Fushimi doesn’t want to deal with alphas why not have a beta as his mate. Fushimi can’t believe Totsuka’s actually being serious about this and Totsuka laughs like he was just kidding, Fushimi clicks his tongue and says don’t give me that shit, you were serious right. Totsuka’s smile settles into something more knowing as he says he was, because as it happens he’s come to like Fushimi quite a lot.
