im really grasping for straws in terms of content so here we go

Marco - Chipotle. Definitely grew up with good Hispanic home cooking from his grandmother, so if he’s gonna get a fast food burrito, he sure as hell ain’t going to Taco Bell. (even my very cuban and very traditional grandmother thinks chipotle ain’t half bad.... even tho their burrito game is kinda shit)

Furgason + Alfonso - In ‘N Out. Those dudes are literally the kind of Californians who would move out of California and say to people “oh, you’ve never had In ‘N Out?? You’ve never lived!”

Oskar - Taco Bell. Look at him. You fucking look at him and try to tell me that stoner doesn’t inhale quesaritos at 3 am.

Star - 7/11. Probably doesn’t feel too strongly about any fast food joint, but definitely worships slushees like they’re freaking demigods. She also likes the variety and freedom to be able to pick out as many sugary snacks as she wants. Letting her into any convenience store is like giving a 9 year old 100 dollars and telling them to get snacks for a road trip.

Jackie - Playa Bowls. If you don’t know what Playa Bowls is, google it, and you’ll see immediately why I’m right.

Janna - One of those hokey chain restaurants where the gimmick is that the waiters are purposely rude to you (ex: Dick’s Last Resort) and it’s supposed to be funny. She probably works there, actually.

I’m pretty sure the city was destroyed long before the higher ups took notice and decided to send in their dogs.

I’m pretty sure the city was destroyed the same time an innocent life was taken and nothing was done about it.

I’m pretty sure the city was destroyed the day cops started feeling like they couldn’t be the solution so it was time to become the problem...

             The day they figured out that some times you get pulled down too deep and and you can’t make your way out.

             The day they figured out that sometimes apologizing isn’t enough, that what one man did accidentally some men do on purpose, and while it may not be all cops it is the responsibility of all cops to protect the people and fight injustice.

I’m pretty sure the city was destroyed the moment an entire generation woke up and took arms in a battle for equality that every generation before them has fought for in this country and realized that the constitutional right to call out a corrupt system or structure within the government only applied to those of the right gender, station, or skin color. The selective few who can look at the lives of innocent people that have been ended due to police brutality and later robbed of some skeleton of justice in the courts and still claim that maybe the victim was asking for it.

                          that maybe he had a gun, instead of a cell phone  

                           that maybe his aggression went beyond a medical need and the officer felt threatened   

                          that maybe the criminal opens the door, not the little boy     that maybe they shouldn’t have resisted     

                          that a twelve year old is a man depending on his skin color

                         that maybe they shouldn’t have filmed it

                        that maybe they should trust in the system.  A system that has been cutting people down in the background for so long that when it finally comes to light there’s nothing left to do but be outraged and try to change things.Change them the same way that we’ve seen work in the past, a protest, a sit in a riot.

Because people only listen when their city is on fire.

But no one ever listens when you’re begging them to help a fellow human.

I’m pretty sure the city was destroyed the day the internet told more truths than the evening news and comedians had better political and religious views than an “leader” out there.

I’m pretty sure the city was destroyed the same day we accepted “fuck it, I’m young” and “yolo” not as the anthems of freedom and spontaneity they were born from but words of warning “you only live once” turning into “you ought to look out” and realizing that if you’re gonna die young, because there was no one there to protect you, because your skin color, gender or sexual identity made you suspicious, dangerous, or nonexistent to those who took and oath to protect you, then you might as well die fro something, “at least [you] can say [you] lived for something”.
