Like I’m not in it JUST for the smut. That part is what brings it all together but like… the ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP IDEA is SO GOOD. This is kind of me gushing about Wxwood I’m so sorry lmao.
I love the headcanon I have that WX is terrified of intimacy and terrified of feeling feelings in general (as we see evidence of during their klei short) because FEELINGS = HUMAN and if they are still feeling human that means all their hard work turning themself into WX was all for nothing! But (tiny spoiler for the fanfic) during an, ah… “intense moment” WX ended up saying “I love you” to Wormwood and THAT SHIT IS KEEPING THEM UP AT NIGHT like STARING UP AT THE CEILING EYES WIDE CAN’T GET A WINK OF SLEEP sort of shit. Cause WX is realizing “omfg why did I say that, I shouldn’t feel love, love is gross, I’m supposed to be a soulless automaton” and not only that I’ve had an idea that maybe Wormwood is convinced they’re in a relationship now and the prideful part of WX wants to tell him to buzz off but they just CAN’T and they don’t know why. They try to tell themself that they’re only in it for the adult funtime but a part of them is terrified because of that genuine “I love you” moment and what it meant, as well as those other little moments like when Wormwood smiles and it makes them feel like they’ve eaten a live butterfly or when they watch Wormwood talking to their crops and they wish they could move their static faceplate and smile or when Wormwood tries to bake a butter muffin just for them as a special treat and even though it’s a little burnt WX eats it and enjoys it anyway…
