How to write your book Step 131
Try full time.
All this time, I've been assuming that indeed you have a life, away from your writing. That you have a job, and/or a family that eats away at your precious writing time. But perhaps you are unlucky enough to have devoted your whole life to your book already. Perhaps you are a full time writer.
Welcome to the dangerous space where you can loose hours upon hours of opportune writing time through ‘meaningful procrastination’ let me remind you: looking up writing advice, is not writing. Checking your emails and replying to some of them, is not writing. Calling your family is not writing. Researching is not writing.Create yourself a schedule. Get up early, write and edit and read and rewrite and reread and rewrite. That is writing. Sit in the same place. Use the same equipment. Have a daily routine. Eat regularly and write for a minimum of 8 hours each day.
If you are not a full time writer, consider having a go. If you can’t take any leave right now or you’re too busy, try scheduling in a weekend and write like a professional for those two days. Hit me with your best shot.
