this one is lillie with an alolan vulpix — one of my favorite characters and pokémon from the alola era.

the whole piece was rigged and animated using duik in after effects, so the entire body is actually rigged and moving rather than being a simple loop. i spent some time trying to get the motion to feel natural and light, and i’m still pretty happy with how it turned out.

originally drawn around 3–4 years ago, when scarlet & violet had just dropped and my pinterest feed was pure chaos. built fully in vector, like most of my work — shapes first, then slowly refining until it feels alive.

the animation is simple, but i still like the mood it carries. sometimes subtle motion is enough 👀

i almost never sketch. most of my illustrations are built straight in illustrator, fully vector, just placing shapes and nudging them around until everything feels right. i usually jump directly into clean forms instead of doing linework first.

but somehow this very cursed, very pointless, extremely messy liner survived in my files. it’s from around 3–4 years ago, when scarlet & violet had just come out and i was looking at a bunch of inspiration on pinterest. i don’t remember the original artists anymore :S
