if anything is a waste of time, it’s sitting on this speeder debating the route they’re going to take when they could’ve already left. she might’ve said as much, but has elected to take the route of convincing him rather than arguing. ( despite what he might think, there is a difference. ) “ it’s not a loss, we’re still going the same place, just taking a longer route to get there. i promise we’ll still make it to our destination by this afternoon. ” brown eyes soften with a smile as her chin comes to rest gently on his shoulder, “ trust me, luca. ” seconds later she nods pointedly over his shoulder to the speeder’s controls. “ now, are you going to drive, or do i need to go up there? ” she settles back as he does take them, arm looped lightly around his waist but lifting her chin from his shoulder, resisting the temptation to tease him for his control issues. along the way she calls out the directions to him, guiding them ever closer to the scene she’d wanted him to see, hoping he won’t regret is acquiescence. when they round the final turn, clearing the wooded path they’d been following, and the crystal waters come into appearance, she smiles as the speeder slows. her gaze isn’t on the wild surf crashing against the craggy rocks, but on him as he takes it in. he doesn’t say anything initially, but he doesn’t need to, the slowing of the speeder is enough, as are the subtle shifts in his expression. “ i told you the long way was worth it, ” she whispers, shifting her gaze from him to the waters as warmth gathers in her chest.
