Why Does Hair Transplant Work for Some People and Not OtherHere is the question I get asked most, and it usually sounds something like this:
"Doctor, my friend got a hair transplant in Delhi last year and it looks amazing. My cousin got the exact same procedure at a different clinic and it looks terrible. How is that possible?"
This is the most important question in all of hair restoration — and the answer will save you from making an expensive, permanent mistake.
The Science No Clinic Wants to Talk About
Your hair graft — the tiny follicular unit extracted from the back of your scalp — is a living tissue. Once it leaves your body, it has a survival window of roughly 4–6 hours under good conditions, and considerably less under poor ones.
In those few hours, it can be damaged by: mechanical trauma during extraction (cheap, heavy motors versus precision nanomotors), dehydration (grafts left on a dry tray versus stored in cold preservation solution), temperature shock, and simply being rushed.
A clinic running 5–6 patients per day through a technician assembly line is optimising for volume. A surgeon-performed procedure optimising for each individual graft is something else entirely.
The difference shows up at month 9 when one patient has full, dense hair and another is wondering what went wrong.
And Then There Is the DHT Problem
Even a perfect transplant can look worse over time if DHT — dihydrotestosterone, the hormone driving your hair loss — is not managed post-procedure.
Your transplanted grafts are DHT-resistant. But the native hair around them is not. Without a post-transplant DHT management plan, you end up with an island of transplanted density surrounded by progressively thinning native hair. Not the result anyone wanted.
At NeoGraft Hair Clinic in Chandigarh, our NeoDHT® protocol combines a DHT-blocking pre-treatment with precision FUE extraction — so the result holds up not just at 12 months, but at 5 and 10 years.
The Single Most Important Question to Ask Any Clinic
"Who performs the actual extraction and implantation — the surgeon, or technicians?"
If they hesitate, or if the answer is "our trained team," you have your answer.
