This is why I don't like that Macklemore song
1. "Some people would rather die than be who they are" - being queer is not, like, WHO I AM. It's a part of my life that causes other people to make it extremely difficult to be who I am, which is a writer, a friend, a student, a boyfriend, and a son who happens to be queer.
2. The youtube comments are not really high on my list of problems. Is that really what straight people think being oppressed is? Is that the best you could come up with?
3. Stop feeding the "allies"
4. "I can't change, even if I tried, even if I wanted to" in that sad, pleading voice - look, queer people aren't victims of their queerness, stop making it look like queer people got diagnosed with a deadly disease - I'm not sad or hopeless or helpless with my queerness. Being queer makes me happy and powerful in my existence and anytime that power gets compromised it's because a cis and/or straight person shat all over it, not because I had a moment of ~*tragedy*~
5. I don't care how sad you were when you thought you were gay then you weren't
6. GO AWAY STRAIGHT PEOPLE SINGING ABOUT HOW SAD IT IS TO BE QUEER.
7. IT IS NOT SAD
8. YOU MAKE IT SAD
