Fuck you, Mark Hinkle. Ravenswood (the district) has always struggled because everybody else shrugs and says, “not my problem.”

I have stories about Facebookies taking over (/ruining) my former students’ community. Trying to report middle schoolers for taking the free(!) bikes that were often parked off the Facebook campus (and plentiful on it). Their half-ass “philanthropy” that consisted of painting a couple walls, assembling a couple IKEA “Kallax” bookshelves (iykyk, they’re not great for storing books and incredibly cheap) and then kicking back with a catered lunch from Oren’s Hummus while they took selfies with students (!!!!).

When Facebook did give money to the district, it was earmarked for bullshit like “coding classes” run by useless instructors who wouldn’t accommodate my second graders who couldn’t read. The could have spent that money on food. They could have spent that money teaching my kids to read. No, coding classes. For everyone.

The community struggles because Silicon Valley, with allllllll the money in the world, won’t invest in it. Instead, they decide they can solve the problems their way (except oops, no they can’t).
