vio link ends misogyny and period cramps
I swear I'm not an Ilia hater (personally, I haven't really connected with any of his programs so far, though I think the way he's pushing the sport on the purely athletic side of it is cool), but the way the commentator from my country brings him up literally every other second just pmo me so bad. Like, please just let me watch Yuma skate in peace, Idgaf about fun fact #34 about Ilia. And yes, I get that he's the obvious favorite for gold but do we really need to compare every other skater to him? Can't we just commentate on their programs themselves?
yuma and shun at these olympics were actually so adorable
I think Green is a lot more mysterious than anyone realizes. he's affable and charismatic. his compassion is endless. out of all four of them, he's the one who connects the most with the people of Hyrule. everyone, nobles and commoners alike, adore and admire him.
but nobody really knows who he is. it's easy to pinpoint Red, Blue, and Vio's characteristics because they're so distinct in how they present. but it almost feels like Green is just, well... what you'd expect from the heroic type
I think it's a quiet sacrifice that Green makes. he purposely gives up his sense of unique identity and personhood. he exists for the kingdom as their hero and nothing else
because at the end of the day, all eyes are on him

Everyone's reactions to grenade launcher Vio were so funny honestly but like guys am I the only one to remember this
I remember him using it in this panel XDD
And btw for the colored version I used your colors to experiment a bit! I didn't ask you ik but do say if it's not ok and i don't plan to do it again tho! They're always so nice to look at and balanced so i was trying to figure out how and why as I was making this sjsjjsjd like how do you keep them so balanced and it's always so nice and pretty to the eye! Your color choices are soooo good bjdjjdgsgsj <<33 (i was too lazy to do the background or lineart tho :"( )
four swords Links public perception headcanons : 3 !
Green: The Gold Standard. everyone projects what they believe a "hero" is supposed to be like. charismatic, compassionate, and patient. and Green IS all of those things, but people tend to take advantage of that (knowingly or unknowingly). the pressure eats away at Green
Red: Sweet and Charming. they know him as the easy-going hero. everyone loves Red and he's the most approachable out of all of them. however, sometimes it feels like they don't really respect him as much as the others. even when it comes to the other knights, it always seems like they trust the others to take care of tasks instead of Red. it makes Red insecure and question his capabilities as a knight, but he has a hard time opening up about it because "everyone likes me and i have it the easiest... so why should I complain?"
Blue: Tough and Intimidating. he's respected for his combat. fellow knights respect his skills, but beyond that, his relationship with most are rocky. he's earned the reputation of "ticking time bomb". while not outright rude, civilians tend to avoid engaging with him, especially if he's by himself. Blue gloats about being untouchable, but it's all a front to hide the fact he feels deeply isolated from everyone because of it
Vio: Stoic and Distant. he has many admirers from afar. castle inhabitants see him as quiet but well-behaved for the most part. he's rather popular with nobles. however, outsiders see him as rather cold and some even assume him to be arrogant. even if he isn't disliked, he's unapproachable to many. Vio will outwardly brush it off, but he's self-conscious about how he appears to others. the more he tries to "fit in", the more awkward he comes off
So I already know where I stand with interpretations of the four (five?) guys. But just a question. Since you're exploration goes deepest into Vio and Blue and emphasizing how much they "match each other's freak", do you think there are any special dynamics happening on the other side with Green and Red? Being close, or just what their relationship is like in general? Have a nice day!
hi Persey!! i'm so sorry this answer is like eons late orz
honestly I struggled for a while to figure out what exactly I want to do with Green & Red's dynamic mainly because for a while I hadn't quite figured out how I wanted to expand their characters
with Blue & Vio, surface level it's ragebaited & ragebaiter LOL, but on a deeper level I like to explore themes of hurt in growth & love. sometimes doing the right thing hurts. sometimes you hurt the ppl you love most. but these things don't make a person inherently "bad" or "evil". Blue & Vio to aren't afraid to face the cruelties, imperfections, and failures when it comes to themselves/each other
while Blue & Vio are more accepting these things, Green & Red are deeply averse/afraid of it
I think the best way I can explain it rn (without yapping for 500 years) is that I'm fond of the idea of Red encouraging Green to embrace the side he tries so hard to bury. his "childish" tendencies—whether it'd be indulging typical kid-like activities or giving him a healthy outlet to be a petty brat AHAHAH. in turn, Green gives Red the confidence to push himself and flourish. Red has so much potential, capability, and strength that often gets buried by his own insecurities. he's always seen himself as reliant on Green (and the others), but he doesn't realize just how much Green relies on him too
anyway, I have a looot of ideas for their development, and I'm rlly looking forward to doing more with them this year : 3
