I’ve pointed out otters to passers-by before and got lacklustre responses, so summoning up a whole group of excited students was very affirming for me. And they got to see an otter. We all won.

Sometimes you have a therapy session where it feels like you’re banging your head on a brick wall and making no progress. And sometimes you have one where a ray of light pierces the clouds of dismay and shines right in your face and you’re like “oh shit you might be onto something there”. Unfortunately you have to do a few brick wall sessions to get the ray of light sessions, so I really enjoy them when they come about!

When I did phone triage I once advised a guy (per NHS guidelines) to take paracetamol for toothache and he said “but it says on the box it’s only for pain and fever?” and I said “toothache IS pain” and he said “ohhhh yeah okay thank you :)”
