PORTLAND, OR (September 23, 2014) āĀ Ramblinā troubadoursĀ FruitionĀ are back with a new EP of whiskey-laced acoustic rock blended with elements of bluegrass and Americana.Ā Meeting On The MountainĀ is a four-song EP written and performed by members of Fruition and BoulderāsĀ Grant Farm.Ā The album is available through all digital retailers starting today and will be out in physical form at Fruition and Grant Farm tour dates starting on September 25th at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO.
Ā
Meeting On The MountainĀ is Fruitionās first release sinceĀ Just One of Them Nights, the quintetās July 2013 full-length studio release that saw itās lead single āMountain Annieā in regular rotation on Sirius/XM Jam On and inspiredĀ No DepressionĀ to exclaim,Ā "This is how country music is supposed to sound.āĀ The newest collection of songs is driven by classic rock rhythms, layered vocal harmonies and bluegrass instrumentation. The two bands will celebrate the release with a string of co-bill dates including an end-of-tour homecoming show for Fruition at Portlandās Wonder Ballroom.
Ā
The two bands first met in 2011 when Fruition lugged their instruments into the snow and started busking outside of a Grant Farm show during a set-break. The stunt made an instant fan out ofĀ Tyler Grant, a National Flatpicking Champion, and his band who then broughtĀ Jay Cobb-AndersonĀ out of the cold and onto the stage to play harmonica. Over the next few years, the two bands would run into each other at festivals and play onstage together whenever possible. This past summer, the friends found themselves with a few free days and an offer from engineerĀ Andrew LunsfordĀ to record at Kodak Lake Studio. Basic tracking was completed on the four songs in just one day. āRandom Leeā (written by Fruitionās Cobb-Anderson (vocals/guitar/harmonica),Ā Mimi NajaĀ (vocals/mandolin) andĀ Kellen Asebroek(vocals/guitar/piano)) evokes the West Coast cool of Fleetwood Mac; āMeet Me On The Mountainā (written byĀ Anderson and Grant) conjures a laid back campfire sing-a-long vibe; āLazy Goldā (Written by Grant and Naja) has the swagger of an in-the-pocket Allman Brothers jam flanked by a mellow harmonica interlude; and āSpliffā (written by Naja) is a tongue-in-cheek Pacific Northwest ode to Woody Guthrieās classic āCrawdad Song.ā
Ā
Fruition is currently at work on their full-length follow-up toĀ Just One of Them Nights, which peaked at #11 on the Soundscan Bluegrass chart.
