Day 20. Rest day at Lake Bolsena 15.4 km.Â
Day 19. Siena - Lake Bolsena 119.6 km. We ditched following the old pilgrims route since it was going to be a hot & long day even when following the shortest ride-able path. The road (SR 2) had some traffic but it was still a very nice and scenic ride.

Day 17. Levanto - Lucca 125.1 km. Â The day started with a nice 10 km / 500 m climb straight from the gates of the camping ground followed by some smaller ascents and a racy descent to La Spezia. From Ameglia onwards the route followed a beach road to Viareggio. What a strange ride it was! Over 35 kilometers of straight and totally flat like a pancake palm boulevard and wind at our back.Â

Day 16. Rest day at Cinque Terre II.
Day 15. Rest day at Cinque Terre.
Day 14. Genoa - Levanto via Portofino 115.3 km. An epic ride from Genoa to Levanto with over 3000 vertical meters of climbing. First following a scenic and hilly coastal route from Genoa to Sestri Levante and then a long climb to Passo di Bracco (610 m) and descent to Levanto. From Genoa to Sestri Levante it was traffic all the time but it didn’t bother too much since the pace of traffic was mellow and drivers kept good amount of space when going pass. Surprisingly from Sestri Levante onwards there were basically no traffic at all. I made a mistake and took a turn to Levanto too early, that probably cost us additional 300 - 400 m of climbing compared to route described at http://italy-cycling-guide.info/cycleways-cycle-routes/coastal-rides/liguria-coast/liguria-coast-2/Â
