as someone who loves all aspects of the holidays and their accompanying festive season, i’m always on the lookout for more merry + bright fics for my favorite fictional duos! i just recently found @fromiftowhen‘s lovely collection of offerings with this theme and a hailey/jay spin - all i want for christmas is you - so more along those lines would be grand! especially for them, because damnnnn, are they on the struggle bus at the moment!

the only detail my mind is providing were i to embark on writing a snippet is them watching ‘while you were sleeping’ - which is superrrr corny because it’s chicago. but also IT’S CHICAGO, is it not mandatory viewing? and either it’s the only rom-com hailey truly loves orrrr she’s never seen it ever but jay sat through it with his mom in the 90s so he watches every year to keep his mom’s memory a part of the season.

The other day, an anon asked if I had a Twitter. And I said I had a personal one, but wasn't wild about sharing it.

And then I realized. I can have more than one. So I set this babe up this morning. No promises I'll use it much, but sometimes you need a different fandom experience, and Twitter is... definitely that. This'll likely just be for fic rambling and fandom yelling (One Chicago, The Rookie, etc. etc.)

1. The fact that he is secretly incredibly soft when he cares about someone. 

2. The little head shake/smile he does when Lucy does or says something that surprises him.

3. His dimples. 

4.  His need to protect the people he loves. 

5. His hands (specifically when he holds Lucy against him after her kidnapping).

50. Talk about something you’re passionate about.

To know me is to know there are few things I’m NOT passionate about, so this is a hard question! ;) But since you answered your version of this so beautifully with something you’re passionate about that you miss, I’ll do the same. I’m passionate about travel. I grew up in a family that very strongly believed in taking your vacation days and that memories are more important than things, and I like to think I’m carrying on that example that goes all the way back to my grandfather. I love any kind of travel—I’ve done road trips, trains, planes, the only thing I’m missing is a cruise. I love the feeling when you know you’re really on your way—when you get through security at the airport or turn the corner onto the highway on the plane or when your train pulls away from the station. And I firmly believe that  traveling is the best way to find your truest, best self. It makes you more confident. It makes you braver. It makes you happier. I love the view of a new city from a balcony and the taste of a town’s signature dish. I love continental breakfasts at roadside hotels just as much as I love fancy cocktails on rooftops in big cities. There’s something magical about looking at a map and knowing you have memories in so many places on it. And I’m passionate about making more of those memories as soon as I can. 

88. What’s something you would rate 10/10?

Besides your fic? ;) I have had many people basically ask me if there’s anything I wouldn’t rate a 10/10 because I love a lot of stuff. But if I narrow it down to just a few things I think they’d be the movie Inside Out, the Cosmopolitan hotel in Vegas, the series finale of The Americans, and Picasso’s Pizza in good old Buffalo New York. ;)

Thank you so much! I just got the good news from my mom that my dad is out of surgery and it all seemed to go well! It’s so hard not to be able to visit (luckily my mom can), but he’ll hopefully be home tomorrow if all goes well and I’ll get to see him then.
