@fromhellivecome because I’m a sucker for soulmate AUs.
“Mom, I’m fine.”
A pause and then a loud giggle fell from the blonde’s lips. “No, mom, really. I’m fine. It’s lovely here and Steven is actually pretty cool. I just finished having lunch with him...yeah well here’s hoping dad can keep it together for this one. Okay okay, get back to work. I will give you all the juicy details when I get back...I love you too. Be safe.”
She ended the call and took a deep breath. Caroline reached up and brushed her hair away from her eyes. She glanced down at the mark on her wrist and pressed her lips together. She had spent years wondering who her soulmate would be. She imagined various scenarios with her girlfriends on sleepovers. Each one was different and each one sparked her curiosity even more. Would it be a man or a woman? Would they have dark hair or light hair? Blue eyes? Green? Brown? A million different questions floated through her mind every time she looked down at the symbol. She never got any answers.
Until today.
When she looked back up, she noticed a man standing at the now-empty chair that her father’s boyfriend had previously occupied. She saw the mark on his wrist and her eyes widened, fingers unconsciously rubbing at the mirror image on her own wrist.
Klaus Mikaelson.
She gave him a soft smile. Her mother’s warnings about strangers rang through her head. She had never considered that her soulmate would be anyone dangerous.
“I wouldn’t mind some company,” she replied, motioning for him to sit down. “I’m Caroline Forbes. It’s about damn time.”
