Can I have a moodboard of Frizzle?
Frizzle, the tale of a Rainbow Pom-pom
This is Frizzle, my friend I found in the Goodwill bins. She was so matted and scrungled! After a good wash and some time to dry I took a closer look at her fluff and sure enough - her previous person had clearly sent her on a well meaning trip through a tumble dryer set too high for her fibers :( For reference, this is how she was designed to look:
She also had some holes in her face around her beak and one eye, where the seam allowance had pulled itself out.
Nevertheless, I loved her little face and so I mended her and got to work with a (clean) pet comb and all the tricks I know. It took ages, but eventually she got back some of her floofy mojo.
Her fibers are too damaged to return to the feathery way they were designed to look, but she's rocking her own woolly, poofy style. It was somewhere around this point I decided to name her Frizzle, because that's what a dryer on high setting will do to very fine plastic filaments like plushie fur. And also because she's clearly a lady who took chances, made mistakes, and got messy!
After more detangling with the comb I gave her a final brush through with wig conditioning spray and a fur brush and here's how she looks now:
My brother @spookymodernjazz says she looks like she got an old lady perm, and I love that he's right! She's one of a kind and I absolutely adore her.
So I guess all this is just to say - sometimes what you go through is gonna leave you in desperate need of some patience and some deep conditioning, and maybe you won't look like your yearbook photos. But you're still gonna find someone who loves your fabulous, frizzled self.
