freyahiru week day 3: garden

Ahiru offered her the watering can (affectionately decorated by soft blue ribbon and a painted duckling against the tin surface), a blush blooming across her blotchy cheeks; she thought that maybe it would've been nice to give her flowers, too, but didn't Freya already have her own and Ahiru wasn't as good with flowers as she was and what if they wilted before she even had the chance to give them to her or ...?

"Ah, I---good morning and happy birthday, Freya," she greeted, her words a tumble from her lips and her feet shifting on the grass, "I know you already have one, but I saw it and and and I thought of you and and and I know that the beak looks lopsided but I dropped the brush a little there so I hope it's still okay and and and---!"

There was always a certain radiance and serenity around her that never ceased to leave Ahiru breathless; this time, it was Freya who blushed---oh gosh oh goodness she's so pretty---and the smile that graced her lips was brighter than it ever had been.
