Films I rewatched during work today - 6/9/2023
Logan - This just keeps me great company, and I was craving Hughâs presence this morning for some reason.
Inside Out - Havenât seen this in a while and wanted to re-see certain heartwarming scenes (Bing Bong made me cry again!). I forgot how annoying Sadness and sometimes Joy is. Sadness would do something for no rhyme or reason, apologize, and then do it again. Then she tries to fight Joy, which is very out of character. Joyâs self-important ass just wonât let Riley be who she is in the moment, she MUST make her happy ALL the time. Fuck me, I understand that all of that was for conflict but did they have to make them so problematic and inconsistent? Lastly, I didnât notice this before but I think itâs funny that the main emotion in men is Anger, in women is Sadness and in children is Joy. Says a ton.
Tar - Iâm just always rewatching this. Itâs comforting.
**I rewatched Anomalisa too, but that doesnât count because I hadnât started work yet. I was craving Kaufman this morning too. I finally learned what itâs really about: a disorder/syndrome called Fregoli. The MC actually stays at a hotel named Fregoli. I just thought it was another bizarre thing Kaufman came up with but apparently people suffer from this depressive disorder. You definitely see the similarities with his other films. I also noticed that it isnât just the same voice, itâs the same face, and you see the very moment when Lisaâs face changes. Itâs frightening. I never noticed this in my previous viewings of this film. This is why I rewatch films I like.
