We get food all the time. Reasons include:

-”welcome to the neighbourhood”

- “It’s my birthday”

- “we have leftovers”

- “My uncle just got back from Morocco and we have cake”

Two hours picking a movie, and John wasn’t even being picky.

Sherlock, striding across the cinema lobby towards the concessions stand, speaks behind him without looking “John, you really should calm down. Look, we’re here with time to spare.”

“The list time was ten minutes ago!” John looks around, realizing he may be shouting, he inches closer to Sherlock with a tremble of self awareness.

“Yes, and this particular cinema has a standard 20 minute block of previews. It’s a popular hour, and a semi popular film which means we’ve got a solid 25, leaving us with 15 minutes.” Sherlock’s raises his eyebrows as if to say ‘hah’

“Not if you’re taking this long deciding if you want a drink.” John raises his eyebrows as if to say ‘hmpf’.

“I need to consider all the possibilities. What if I get a cold headache? What if it tastes bad? What if the film is actually good and I forget to drink it and it melts? What if they don’t have the only flavor I- oh no, wait, they do. Do you have the change from the tickets?”

John fishes a tenner and some change from his pocket, depositing them in Sherlock’s waiting hand. Neither ignores the cold chill they feel upon the brush of their sensitive fingers. Sherlock thanks him with a small but earnest smile.

“Erm, one medium pink lemonde slush please.”

“Make that a large.” John interjects. Sherlock eyeballs him as he grabs a second straw, waggling his eyebrows suggestively. Sherlock blushes.

They receive the drink, two straws in cup, as John extends an elbow which Sherlock gladly takes. John’s arms feel nice through the layers of jacket and sweater. John likes the warmth of Sherlock’s hands.

Tickets from pocket, boy in vest gives them a tear, down three on the left. Mental note of where the men’s room is, try not to walk into a small child. John briefly detaches himself to hold the door open for Sherlock, to which he responds with a small curtsy of thanks.
