Guys, I need some recommendation advice.
My parents moved to Colorado about five years ago to escape California and help my chronically disabled little sister and her equally chronically disabled husband take care of themselves and their children (not being sarcastic, neither of them are medically capable of working for more than a few hours at a time.).
Anyway, with the rash of new anti-gun laws coming down the pipe in CO that go into effect in August, my parents have finally decided to buy themselves an AR type rifle and have asked me for recommendations.
Now if they had asked thirteen years ago when I was in charge of my unit armory and did gunsmithing on the side, I would have just spat out recommendations with complete confidence. Unfortunately, I have been out of the market since getting stationed in California and I have almost completely lost track of who's who in the quality gun manufacturing space.
So for those of you who are still in the game, what brand would you recommend for a couple who are in their 70's?
Mostly I am looking for a good quality basic build for under $1k if that still exists. I'm not worried about the accessories or modifications since I still have the equipment to do professional work on whatever they buy.
Yes, I know that I can search the internet for this, but I also know how manufacturers advertise and I want advice from only the most trustworthy autists on the hellsite. Thanks in advance guys!
