Bodegas La Val Albariño, Rias Baixas 2015
This gorgeous Albariño from sunny Rias Baixas is made from all estate-grown fruit grown from three different vineyards. It's a super flavor-y white with bursts of tropical fruit, fresh herbs, and citrus and a dry, zingy finish. I've been really excited about this wine ever since it came in- it's really refreshing without being just another boring, dry white wine you drink with your eyes closed. It's a great thing to try if you love Sauvignon Blanc... or if you don't. Drink it with canned fishes on crusty bread or salty crackers. $17
Francois Chidaine Les Choisilles, Montlouis Sur Loire 2015
We were thrilled to get a few cases of this highly allocated, widely celebrated biodynamic Loire Valley Chenin Blanc, and we're even more excited that we get to share it with you tonight. This magical wine, named for the black flint prevalent in the Montlouis vineyards, boasts acidity that is sunny and meticulous, layers of orchard fruit, and the beautiful, delicate minerality we always hope for from the Loire. This silky Chenin would be terrific with bouillabaisse, and if you make bouillabaisse for me I'll totally bring it over!!! $38
J.K. Carriere Provocateur, Willamette Valley 2014
Winemaker Jim Prosser is extremely well respected by his peers in the Willamette Valley, which says a lot about both his character and skills. Both the winery and this cuvée are odes to Jim's grandfather J.K. "a provocateur, but decidedly more Pied Piper than antagonist. He'd favor opening this bottle and provoking an unexpected evening". This ripe, rich, precise Pinot Noir really is the perfect thing to build a spontaneous night around- it pairs well with most plates and pleases most palates. $25
