Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup cocoa powder. 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar. 1 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 3 large eggs. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1 cup buttermilk. 2 cups heavy cream. 1/4 cup powdered sugar. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced. 1/4 cup chocolate shavings or curls.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and grease two 8-inch round cake pans. In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined. Gradually add the buttermilk and mix until the batter is smooth and creamy. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. In a separate mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. This is your whipped cream filling. Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a layer of whipped cream on top of one cake layer. Arrange the sliced strawberries on top of the whipped cream. Place the second cake layer on top of the strawberries. Cover the entire cake with the remaining whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or curls. Refrigerate the Chocolate Fraisier Cake for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. Slice, serve, and enjoy your delicious Chocolate Fraisier Cake!
