The coolest and simultaneously least cool I will ever be in my life happened a few months ago when I was playing some kind of strange horse girl board game made for middle-aged women with my sister and her friends. A card came up asking if anyone could recite a poem from memory. My sister looked me dead in the eyes and said, ‘s0ym1lk can.’
And she was fucking right.
The poem was Jabberwocky, by Lewis Carroll. I recited it start to finish, missing ne’er a word, and was met not with applause but immediate questions about why that is the poem I have memorized.
“You don’t think it’s a little... splotchy?”
“The Revelry just ended, everybody’s distracted... or hanged over... nobody will notice.”
“The other Ghosts will notice. I told you, they... talk.”
“Then just tell them it’s avant-garde. They either won’t know what that means, and think they’re out of their depth, or they’ll be impressed, and think you have sophisticated taste.”
“Is that why you tell people your cloak is frabjous?”
“No, not remotely. Frabjousness is a very specific property.”

¡Quiero retarlos al Frabrouary!! 🎩🍄🌹🍰☕️ (en inglés porque combina mejor el juego de palabras 🙈)
Also on view right now are two mixed media pieces, part of #Frabjous, a multidisciplinary group show with @openingsny, on view until October 25, open daily 8-5. 🌊#nycgallery #oksanapro #texturedart (at Church of Saint Paul The Apostle, NYC) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnvJXp5hRWY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wet0wxd543hj

a Warlock’s guide to Do’s an Don’ts dealing with hunters.
during our time working alongside the hunters, we warlocks have picked up a few things and have compiled a list of recommendations when dealing with the hunters’ of your fireteam.
- Firstly, ensure the you are on your hunter’s good side. if your approach is greeted with glares or a hand reaching for their knife, it is ill advised to attempt to chastise or converse with them at that time.
- Do: compliment their weaponry, style of fighting, armor, or apparent ability to cheat. hunter culture seems to involve much showboating and preening, and thus, compliments will very well in improving your standing with your hunter WARNING: do not refer to their abilities as cheating EVER, instead, use words such as luck, skill, or sleight of hand; a hunter will never ever take well to being accused of cheating.
- Don’t: correct them for doing something they have enjoyed. while your chances of being stabbed can be low if your hunter is the amicable type, hunters seem to have many issues with self confidence, and if you chastise them for doing something they thought they had done well, they may become withdrawn and underperform, perhaps even abandoning the fireteam in the midst of intense battle.
- Do: direct their violence and excitement. If a hunter seems to be itching to show off their abilities, or the new helmet that lets them fire, to quote a hunter: “Friggin Laser Beams made of pure sunlight!” then allow them to do so. In fact, encourage this behavior, as if they know they have their fireteam’s approval to do so, they may use these abilities more often than not, seeming to seek not only the thrills, but also the compliments they seem so desperate for.
- Dont: play games of chance with them. As stated before, hunters seem to have an innate skill for cheating without being caught on to, keep an eye out for loaded dice, marked cards, or some other form of gambling. If you really must play some form of game, be it from their incessant begging or seeming interest in you, settle for one that fuels their thirst for taking risks, some warlocks report an old game called kings throne, in which the hunter must move a central piece to a corner of the board while surrounded on all sides by opposing pieces, has been quite useful in engaging the hunter’s sense of risk taking.
- Do: encourage them to make allies and friends. as much as a hunter may prefer to work alone, it is often in the company of other hunters or closely trusted friends that they seem to really come into themselves, making jokes they normally wouldn't in a professional setting.
- Dont: attempt to chastise a hunter whilst they are truly upset. If your hunter has taken to separating themselves from the group, running around in circles impatiently, or sitting off on their own, no matter how upset you may be with them, direct another hunter cautiously in their direction, or if you believe in your abilities to prevent spontaneous stabbings, attempt to comfort them yourself, you may find that your hunter is very accepting of comfort, most of them often craving it without ever truly revealing their want to anyone. WARNING: only attempt comfort if you are alright with your hunter preening over and possibly becoming emotionally attached to you, possibly even in a romantic way.
- A Departing Note: If a hunter ever refers to your robes or attire as Frabjous, whatever that means, it apparently is not intended as an insult, and is a means to covey an intense sense of fashion, most often to the hunter’s liking
"frabjous"
- Coined by Lewis Carroll in, Through the Looking-Glass, the word frabjous and its meaning was conceived from the union of fabulous and joyous. It is defined as wonderful, elegant, superb, or delicious.
