Four Fivers is a fantasy YA story I've had on the back burner for a while. (Actually, I came up with ten tentative idea back when I was 12, lol)

It's about a fantasy continent, Riviva where the four largest kingdoms are connected by four rivers. The rivers are controlled by a god who lives on an island where the four meet in the center of Riviva. Every fifty years, there is a very important ceremony. Two suitors are chosen from the four kingdoms, and they must get married before the River God, then he will continue to bless the rivers with good weather and peaceful waters. The River god lives a peaceful life, staying on his island with his friend and guard, Ari, a dragon who can take a more humanoid form.

Our story starts with Melodi, a princess, and Yasuno, the son of a merchant. They have been chosen as this ceremonies suitors. Yasuno feels second thoughts, not sure if he wants his future decided for him, while Melodi wants to make her kingdom and family proud. ...Even though her heart already belongs to someone else.

Everything is going well, until a fisherman's boat pull up something that is not a fish. It's the body of a very wounded Ari. She was attacked, and the River god was taken. The heads of all the kingdoms try to keep this a secret, knowing that if the people knew the river god was gone, it would cause a wide spread panic. Everyone relies on the rivers for goods and transportation.

Still, someone finds out, and as assassin tries to take Melodi's life, blaming her and Yasuno for this tragedy. This means Melody, Yasuno, Ari and Garrik (Melodi's childhood friend) must flee the castle and find out what happened to the River God, avoid assassins, and Melodi will come face to face with her greatest nightmare.

There are four rivers, four kingdoms, but... What about the fifth branch of the river, and the forsaken fifth kingdom? And that does it have to do with the nightmares Meoldi has?

Fun fact: The original version I made when I was 12 was just a parody. Basically it was "The princess is a bad ass and doesn't want to be saved (though she has her own cool BF), the prince just wants to be a rock star and not save princesses, and the dragon wants to open it's own restaurant, and they go an their adventure to defy the conventions that have been laid out for them.
