I had the pleasure of watching a community in action against a highly preventable epidemic in our country - childhood obesity, bolstered by chronic inactivity and myopic body views in our society. Strong For Life and various community and fitness movements combined efforts with @Streetz945atl and Clayton State University to host the basketball game and concert to promote awareness and Health Education and alternatives for the youth of the Southside of Atlanta. The productive camaraderie and fun never overshadowed the mentorship and stewardship that the organizers ingrained in this event with their intent. Talk of scholarships and positivity reflecting and trickling down to the lives of our future abounded. Through the conscious efforts and actions of people reaching back and speaking out, and real people sharing their passion and love through promoting health and self care, we were shown making time is more healthy than making excuses. I can't wait to see more movements manifest in this same vein, encouraging EVERYONE to take their health seriously, and to live their absolute best life. There is no way to travel back to optimum health. The time is now to build a healthful and beautiful future.
