that   statement   took   the   breath   right   out   of   her.   it   physically   hurt.   “you   …   don’t   want…”   mac   said   out   loud,   letting   her   thoughts   run   away   with   her.   for   weeks   they’d   been   fighting,   going   back   and   forth   about   whether   to   stay   together.   if   the   love   between   them   was   enough.   all   of   that   for   him   to   not   even   want   her   anymore.   after   everything.   she   let   out   another   shallow   breath   and   looked   down.   “guess   this   is   it   then.   it’s   really   over.   you   could’ve   just   told   me   that   instead   of   putting   me   through   this.”   mac’s   voice   broke   off   and   she   held   back   tears.
