Consider the condition of the bones, joints and muscles of the jumper. Typically, athletic shoes (with the exception of minimalist-type shoes) are designed to support the arch of the foot and cushion the heel for increased comfort during activity. Wearing athletic shoes can weaken the smaller, accessory muscles of the foot as they are not as heavily relied upon for support. Furthermore, the increased heal height, caused by the added cushioning in the heal, tilts the foot slightly forward (plantar flexion) which can shorten the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles over time. #barefoot #mastertrainer #ebfa #personaltrainer @fitnessbyrajiv @instagram #rehabspecialist #functionaltraining #instadaily #formcheckfriday (at Juhu Beach)
