âWill you tell me a story?â Unâhee asked, her mouth muffled by the blanket pulled up over her chin.
âVery well,â Thrawn said, inclining his head. âI believe I might be able to find something suitable in the libââ
âNo,â Unâhee said, giving a little shake of her little head. âI mean a real story. Like the one you told me about the Grysk. I like those best.â
Thrawn frowned. He had never told her a story about the Grysk. He made a silent âahâ of understanding: she was referring to his explication of the Grysk situation two years previously when she had been captured and recovered by the Steadfast and Chimaera.
He could do that.
âVery well,â Thrawn said once more, taking a seat on the end of the bed. âAllow me to share a story I also shared with the Imperial Court Martial.â
Unâhee sniffed and asked, âDid Court Martial like this story?â
Thrawn hesitated a moment, and admitted, âNo. But you have far more imagination than an Imperial politicking Naval tribunal, and I expect you will appreciate the nuance and basic moral logic that was lost upon them at the time.â
âOkay,â Unâhee mumbled.
âOnce upon a time,â Thrawn began, âthen-Ensign Theli and I served upon an Imperial light cruiser called the Blood Crowââ
âTheli was there?â Unâhee asked with wide, red eyes.
âIndeed,â Thrawn said. âHe plays a very important part in all my bestââ He almost said courts-martial, but corrected to, âstories.â
Unâhee gave a pleased little shuffle as she settled deeper into the pillows, and Thrawn continued, âThe Blood Crow was captained by a rather unfortunate woman named Rossi, having displaced the far more competent and honorable Captain Virgilio. One day, the Blood Crow was summoned to respond to a distress call from a freighter called the DromedarâŚâ
