Being booked and busy great.. that is until you’re so tried and drained that you don’t want to do the things you purely enjoy. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in being “booked and busy” that when we are done with these gigs and projects, we don’t know what we purely enjoy. So busy chasing a bag or feeling accomplished or pleasing others that when the dust settles, we have no idea what’s next. We work so hard to maintain an image that we neglect our identity. Me? I love photography. I love music. I love beautifying ANYTHING. I love art. I loooovvveeee ministry. BUT because I’ve been so focused on getting things done, I haven’t been creating anything 😔. I don’t want to live a life unfulfilled because I’m focused on an agenda or what’s next on the list! I want to LIVE AND LOVE AND CREATE! Here’s to us LIVING. Not existing but experiencing! Once upon a time, my eyes lost their sparkle. The darkness I felt inside took it away. I had truly given up on me and all I dreamt of being. I thought the decisions I had made disqualified me from the desires of my heart. Depression crippled me and left me with what seemed to be laziness but was actually hopelessness. I had nothing to look forward to and no one who looked forward to me. I felt purposeless but on a beautifully sunny day, in my darkest, most destitute moment, He told me He needed me.. Of course others had said that before but when the Most High meets you where you are and tells you that He needs you, it's overwhelming! That moment changed my entire perception of what My Life was about. The "sparkle" left because I wasn't seeing me how He sees me. Because I didn't value the gifts on the inside of me. My prayer DAILY: Father, show me the me you created me to be! Show me the error of my ways and guide my footsteps. There are levels to insecurity. My mom always made me recite Psalm 139:14 " I will praise thee ;for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well ". I still hear her insisting voice in the back of my head when self-doubt begins to creep in. It taught me to how to view myself but I still question how the people I come in contact with do. I struggle with feeling like other people won't think I'm smart enough, capable enough, pretty enough, and all in all worth it. There's a crazy inward battle between feeling like I need to prove myself and believing that I have nothing to prove.. That I need to figure out a way to show that I am enough but then telling myself " nah sis, you the 💩" lol. There's always room for improvement and something that I can work towards being better at. But the very fact that God put me here means I am enough. Because He thought that there needed to be a Shakira LaShaun Lavenhouse and made only one is proof that just me is all there needs to be.. So here's to letting go of my fear of being misconceived. Here's to believing in me so much that it doesn't matter who does or doesn't. No longer living afraid of being taken for granted or making myself feel unworthy. I am enough. #StayLit #TheLightMovement #ForKidsLikeMe
