Alice groaned softly as she awoke. She was not ready to tackle the day yet. So she laid staring up at the ceiling. It took her a few moments of blindly staring off into nothing to realize that she was not staring at her bedroom ceiling. Sitting up, she looked at the sheets covering her, and again, they were not hers. Looking to her side, she saw Kit laying in the bed beside her.
âKit?â His name came out as a whisper of disbelief as her mind reeled for answers. Why were they in the same bed? He hadnât even been at the castle for a visit. They should have been miles away. Yet here she was, sitting beside him in a bed that was not the one she went to sleep in the night prior.
Kit was half awake himself when he heard Alice whisper his name. He shifted slightly, stretching before he opened his eyes and tried to blink away sleep. âWhat is it, dear?â he asked, his voice still husky from sleep. He stretched a bit more fully, knowing he needed to get up soon.
