Alright I've really not been doing well at keeping up with DOP or at being productive at all so skipping to today.

Lectures:

Forensic Specialisms - Lecture 1: guest speaker who talked about forensic product manufacturers and innovation of forensic science and products in the 21st. Honestly felt like I had accidentally walked into a business studies lecture

Investigation of Serious and Organised Crime - lecture 1: drug trafficking in the UK particularly England and Wales

Forensic Specialisms - lecture 2: DNA analysis- exploring microble DNA ans microgenomics.

Happy 1st of October! Spooky season and autumn properly in swing now.

Today's lecture was Forensic Casework and the Expert Witness.

DNA - extraction, DNA Fingerprinting, DNA analysis.

The Prosecutor's Fallacy.

Wednesday 1st October 2025

I think I've given up on 100 days of productivity 😅.

Anyway today we had a practical in Advanced CSI where we examined a hit and run which was an attempted murder - no evidence collection, only photos taken and Investigative strategies noted down.

Then in Forensic Evidence in Investigative Practice:

- workshop where we had questions about UKAS accreditation, competency matrixes and ideas for Likeliness Ratios scales for fibre evidence.

- laboratory practical where we examined fibres to look at visual differences between different fibre types e.g. cashmere vs acrylic and the way dyes look under a microscope.

Thursday 25th September 2025

So no uni today.

Predominantly I was being productive by decluttering and tidying but I did have a quick look at my independent learning work.

For Advanced CSI I put some tabs in my report book to make it easier to navigate.

Also watched the Forensic Capability Network Validation video.

For Forensic Evidence in Investigative Practice, I found the PDFs for post and pre readings.

Wednesday 24th September 2025

And so it begins - first day of my masters.

In this first semester we're doing Advanced CSI and Forensic Evidence in Investigative Practice.

It's also a long day from 09:00 - 18:00 (8 hours- theres an hour lunch break)
