Fans who think being [nationality]-American makes them experts on everything about [nationality] and who attack non-American members of [nationality]. The worst examples I've personally seen: African-Americans deciding a South African is "fake black" for not speaking AAVE or understanding American cultural references, and an Asian-American who thinks the popularity of anime and shows like Squid Game is "stealing attention" from American media like Turning Red and Crazy Rich Asians. (The second person was criticized by an actual South Korean and they responded by telling the critic to kill herself. YIKES.)
Americans need to STFU about their politics. "Silence is compliance." Shut up, man. This is a fandom, we're here for the fan content and fun, not be guilt tripped by your country's nonsense. Keep your politics out of shared fandom spaces. Fandom isn't activism, and it sure as hell isn't your political soapbox.
Man, I didn’t know how bad the education system in America was until I learn that a good amount of kids there genuinely think pro stands for problematic. I can’t believe they don’t know that it’s a prefix. English isn’t my native tongue and it was literally one easiest things to learn and understand that pro- and anti- are prefixes and opposites. I thought they were trolling for a few months because it seems too stupid but then it dawned on me -look, I was in denial- that they were serious.
When the author/translator misgender a character that is obviously and intentionally written as trans

I really hate how some people take the word of some big creators as if it is some sort of holy scripture. I'm dropping the fandom name so people don't have to ask about it.
Genshin Impact.
With Version 2.7's release, there were some character interactions that people, including myself, have been waiting for. Zhongli and Xiao finally had an on screen interaction, and it was just what fans needed and wanted. Unfortunately, this interaction also led to some not so great drama. On one side, there are people who are taking the scene as romantic implications. On the other side, there are people who are saying that it is wrong to see them romantically.
So here is the problem I have. This big content creator had hyv feature their art once, and I honestly think that made it go to their head cause they suddenly got extra annoying about their headcanon. They have a tendency to baby-fi Xiao to intense levels. Like legit make him seem like a baby. This big creator pushes that Zhongli is Xiao's dad which is not canon if you have actually read the lore. They were quiet and did not really fight the community that ships Zhongli and Xiao until their art was featured by hyv.
They started making posts repeatedly saying their headcanon was canon. But when shippers asked for proof, they go "I know it isn't canon, but it is canon for me." And then they continued to post things that were continually saying that "Dad son is canon!" Now everyone reading this would probably think it is stupid for me to be getting upset about this cause "it's just a headcanon!" But that isn't the only problem I have with them.
They claimed to be harassed by some Vietnamese people. Then made a post saying that they were going to block anyone from Vietnam from seeing their posts. Their Vietnamese fans got mad at them for that, and they made a not so genuine apology. People who were able to get access to a group they had made shared some screenshots of this content creator's followers saying some racist things about Vietnamese people like calling them "monkeys" or saying "they can't understand cause the language barrier makes it hard for them to get you." The content creator never did anything to stop them. Of course their non-Vietnamese fans were quick to accept their apology and told them that the people "harassing" them were just haters.
Seriously? People forgave them easily, but they harassed people like veechu into deleting when she had an actual genuine apology. They harassed another artist who tried to defend herself when people told her to take her life. Said artist later shared that she had ended up in the hospital but her harassers? They said she was saying that to deflect blame and garner sympathy.
Yet when this content creator says things that upsets Vietnamese people, repeatedly spell Vietnam wrong, their apology is accepted with no problem. It all really sucks to see this happen.
I'm in the fandom of a Japanese work written by Japanese authors for a Japanese audience, and 99% of its English-speaking fans are Japanese living abroad like me. Now Americans have discovered the work and call themselves fans while ranting about how it's "problematic" because it doesn't pander to them. They've turned the fandom into a warzone!
Western fans in eastern media not understanding that morals are not universal, cultural norms are not universal, and that said media is not made for them.
Before anyone fucking calls this gatekeeping, no one is saying that you can’t engage with it. But whether you like it or not saying it’s irredeemable by your values and ignoring ours? Talking over people trying to explain translation errors from their own culture? Being an overall dick because the media doesn’t cater to you specifically? You’re being entitled and racist and we don’t want you here.
If you can’t play nice in OUR sandbox, get the hell out.
