See, I’m biased because I already like the sims but I like reading your writing and would continue to do so...
*hugs* Thank you! It's not that I expect anyone to look at my casual gameplay if they don't like TS4, but if you've read my work and I consider you a friend and then you're like "Welp, I won't read your life's work anymore just because I decided I personally don't like the game you use to illustrate it" - that's, well...yeah.
Sims 2 can actually trigger me into a spiral of self-hate and isolation and anxiety, because my brain associates it so much with all the Sims 2 icons of strangers that would show up on my LJ guests list every Friday night back in the day - not to mention that it's the game of choice for the ex-best friend and his flying monkeys, and that most of the people who turned on me and rejected me were Sims 2 players.
Even at the worst of it, I still managed to read Sims 2 stories by my friends who I knew were awesome writers. And I will still take a chance on a new Sims 2 story I see being advertised if it looks promising.

I think for me it's that my Sims stories go way way beyond the game I use for them, even though the game is integral to the characters and the plot. Like we are not concerning ourselves with EA and whatever your issues with the game are here. We are concerning ourselves with Beauty and Art.
I don't know. Maybe part of the disconnect is that other people are just like "I don't like Sims 4 so I won't read stories that use it!" and I'm all over here talking about the morality of aesthetics and the need to come to art as a transparent eyeball, without preconceptions and prejudice.
Like I really do not care if you hate Sims 4 so much that you want to do a Seth and set EA's headquarters on fire. Do you, do your thing, whatever. But when I completely pour myself into my art and push myself and struggle and hack my way through an unknown uncharted territory in my quest for Beauty and Goodness and Truth and then I finally find it and I put it in story form for you, and you reject it because of nothing more than its skin...

If it helps, your stories are great and I intend to keep following even if I’m not getting Sims 4 for myself yet. :)
