i’ve known i’m genderfluid for more than a year and a half but i still have those bad days where i ask if i’m faking it. i’m sure there are other people out there like me asking the same thing, especially those just discovering their gender identity.

for me, i needed to find moments in time where i knew, undeniably, that i was this or that gender. this can take a little bit, seeing as changing genders isn’t exactly on someone’s calendar. so i flipped the system.

ever since the beginning of august, i’ve been writing the gender i identify as for the day in my handy dandy planner along with my preferred pronouns. i look back and remember boy days and girl days, even bigender days. i remember feeling that gender that day because i also have the tasks i did that day in my planner.

i was agender for four days in a row once, and i had those questioning thoughts come back to bite me (because i usually change daily). but obviously my gender changed again. so someday in the future if i’m a girl for four days in a row i’ll be able to look back and remember when i didn’t change for a while and be okay with it.

i was a boy when i went to barcelona, a demigirl when i went to visit my dad, nonbinary at my graduation, a girl when i went textbook shopping with my mom, etc etc etc.

i know i’ll be okay, and i know you’ll be okay too.
