Escadaria Selarón // Selarón Stairs are the work of Chilean-born artist, Jorge Selarón (1947-2013). He began work on the stairs in 1990, the 215 steps lead the Convent of Saint Teresa and he creates his masterpiece with donated tiles and porcelain, taking 20 years to complete the work. The stairs were declared a city landmark in 2005. Sadly, in 2013 Selaerón was found dead on the stairs with the cause of death being unknown.
