@foolplayed liked for gifts!
the morning was spent pacing, worry clouding all judgement. in paris, gift giving was common, or at least common for him -- in villeneuve, he didn’t exactly know the etiquette. would a person be mad if he were to give them something? once he finally stopped his pacing, he looked down at the small pie he had baked, teeth digging into his lip. what was the worst that could happen? ( he decided to ignore his brain as it listed off every possible outcome )
setting out for the market, he brought the pie he had baked, as well as a pair of wool mittens that he had knit. he had seen michel going hunting at least once before, and he figured that hunting could requite some warm clothing. ( he would have knit more for the man, though he figured that he might be embarrassed with such a gift ) spotting the man, he nervously approached, fearing the absolute worst. “monsieur? i-i’m so sorry to bother you, i er - i have something for you, if you’ll accept it.”
holding out the wool mittens first, he gave a hopeful smile. “i’ve heard that you do a lot of hunting, and wanted to erm - wanted to make you something to keep warm on the cold nights.” with his free hand, he was giving him the pie, trying not to look as nervous as he was feeling. it wasn’t a very easy feat, as his rounded cheeks were already flooding rose. “i baked an excess today, and i wanted you to have this.” he had never been very good at lying, and this was no exception. it was quite clear that he had baked it specifically for him.
