mornings were brutal. he was never one that woke up with a smile, greeting other’s good morning while enjoying brunch. the reality of mornings that idols faced were much too fast paced, unable to even eat proper breakfast or let themselves wake up more gently. the otherwise sweet member of the band knight was not even all that sugar sweet after waking up. he didn’t talk, walking past people and preparing for the day. his patience was much more thin unless he took his morning coffee, especially if he was guaranteed a jam packed day.
today was a day like this. and he already hopped off of the van to walk like a zombie towards the coffee shop. he pushed the doors open, hearing the familiar bell ring that alerted the staff of his presence. his hair was still wet, unstyled, but he really didn’t bother. the looks that were given to him informed him he didn’t look that bad.
the line for this particular coffee shop wasn’t long, either, so it didn’t take much time before he was next in line. he had already memorized his order from years of ordering from the same place. smiling at the cashier who gestured for him to step forward, he ordered his typical ice caramel latte with two shots of espresso. he was about to pay for it when he patted his jean pocket to feel nothing but his cellphone there.
“hold on a moment,” he said, shoving his hands inside every pocket attached to his clothes. he couldn’t even ask his manager for money since he had something to attend to at the company after dropping him off. “i-- i seem to have...forgotten my wallet.” the embarrassment made his cheeks turn pink and he could only stand there, feeling so utterly incompetent.
