Lim wasn’t exactly sure how things like this was supposed to work. Usually when he slept with someone, he didn’t have to worry about seeing them ever again. He could skillfully avoid them or just outright ignore them, but that wasn’t an option this time. Oli was someone who was unavoidable. They worked together, they ran in the same circle of friends. It was like no matter where he went, he would end up running into him no matter what. And as much as he wanted to turn down their mutual friends’ invitations to go out, he knew he couldn’t keep doing that for too much longer until they began to catch on.
Which is how he found himself seated at the same table as Oli, right next to him. He wasn’t sure how he ended up in the exact spot, especially after he tried switching with three of their other friends, but he couldn’t find anymore excuses as to why they should switch seats with him.
Oli’s presence was almost unbearable, and every time his arm brushed up against his, it felt like it left a scorch mark in its place. He was unusually quiet for entirety of the dinner, only speaking when he was directly spoken to, and it wasn’t until their friends ended up either going to use the restroom or going for a smoke break that Lim finally looked at Oli. They were the only two left at the table, and the silence was stifling. After a few moments of eye contact, he finally spoke.
“..Hey.”
The greeting felt weird. Hey? Was that really all he could say? After avoiding him for weeks after their drunken confessions, that was the best he could do? Apparently it was.
