What have you learned from living in your Shared Home?

“patience! understanding! And to talk with each other when you’re not sure about things rather than jumping into conclusions. misunderstandings can cause severe consequences sometimes. even in the lightest of conflict.”

What place or activity close to your heart did you choose to share with your housemate(s)?

“um..well, i didn’t really have a place with fond childhood memories, but i did have a convenience place store that was close to my heart when i was a trainee. it used to be the only place that i would kinda go to for food during the late hours of the night. it was also where i met hyeju too, accidentally! its close to my heart since it was a place that i kinda established my first friendship with another trainee that’s been a close friend till now, and even better, it actually does serve great food.”

[Only answer if applicable] What was seeing your relative(s) for the holidays in your house for the show like?

"ahh...i didn’t see my relatives, since we’re still estranged, and i’m technically still disowned, but, well...it was heartwarming that everyone else got to see the family members that they missed so much.” (edited out of the interview)

thank you @fmdxyoungjoo in particular... unnie, thank you for making sure my mess never escaped our room. the rest of you never had to see just how bad i am at keeping tidy, so please thank youngjoo for that! i wish i could say i learned from that experience in particular, but i suspect there won’t be much improvement once i’m back on the outside...

oh, that sounds like i’m saying this was jail, doesn’t it? don’t worry! i had lots of fun!! it’s really been so nice to get to know you all~ i’m sorry that you had to eat my cooking that one night though. if you went and got food from a convenience store or somewhere else after, i wouldn’t be offended, because that’s what i did that night, hehehe. the rest of you cooked so well though! it was inspiring - maybe i’ll learn to cook properly!

please come visit me soon! we can drink tea and you can meet mouse, my cat, for real! she’s been watching you all from her photo in the living room this whole time, please come meet her!!!!!

If you were to participate in a future season of Shared Home, what would you want to do with your house mates during your time on the show?

“oh, the thought of being a part of such a program makes me excited already! i was really jealous of joosung oppa, and everything he got to do! i really liked the christmas market though so i think that’s something i’d like to try again as a cast member.” 

How was the New Year’s party?

“it was beautiful! i think all the cast members did really well with decorating the other house. it was a nice combination of new years and fun here and there. i could tell that they spent a lot of time and effort in putting it altogether. it was also just fun to meet so many people and talk to them!” 

If you’ve filmed multiple cameo appearances for the show, which was most memorable for you?

Dear Minnie, 

i am definitely going to miss you when we part from the shared house! it was wonderful being your roommate, even though sometimes i might have been overbearing in scenting candles and cleaning your things in the room since i can’t stand everything being in a mess. 

thank you for being so patient with me, and so so kind. thank you for listening to me on the nights even when you were tired and sleepy. did you know that lavender helps you sleep? i kept putting on the lavender scented candles in our room because i thought you needed the sleep. you always seem so tired since your schedule is busy after all...

i hope i had been a great roommate to you, because you definitely were a great roommate for me!

why are you still so tall T-T

i think my neck hurts all the time from looking up at you since i was born short, but you keep amazing me with your talent with singing and the guitar and piano! i mean--- even i couldn’t just listen once to something and play it T-T it takes me a long while to even make sure that i compose everything well and correctly for my songs. 

also! YOUR DANCING IS ALRIGHT! AT LEAST YOU’RE BETTER THAN ME! at least..you don’t trip over your own two feet all the time even while walking ╥﹏╥

i know this might be a wishful thinking on my part but....if you ever want to! only if you ever want to! i hope we’d get to collaborate something in the future! whether it be in singing or in compositions for each other, i do hope our future career paths meet! :o

ah but that’s selfish of me hahhh--i do hope that whatever may come in the future, nothing ever gets you down! whatever people say, always know that you’re special, and always know that they’ve never seen the best side of you. 

the eyes of people and the public are naturally blind, only because they truly just want to see what they want and what they need to believe. i’m glad you finally found a place that you are comfortable and have debuted in! 

i hope we stay in contact, and maybe...maybe--just maybe because fuck gold star and what they do :D

hm..what should i say now...sadly enough, i don’t think we interacted enough, and that was partially my lazy fault. you probably saw me lazing around on the yoga mats, half asleep or cooking in the kitchens rather than talking to people, and i hope that hasn’t been a factor to make you think badly of me.

we’ve been housemates for more than a few weeks, and i hope you didn’t mind me or thought that i was a little busybody cleaning up occasionally your room! i’m not as busy as most of you are, so i did think that i should have put my effort into making things that yall could enjoy. like cooking, or cleaning up! 

small little things, that would make your day better ahaha.

also, i hope the small post it notes and flowers of encouragement you received helped too to make your day a little brighter!

Dear Vivienne,

after a couple of weeks of being housemates with you--can i just say that hearing your guitar sounds at 2am just makes me happy, because well, as busy as you are, you’re back home, even if its a temporary home. 

please take care of yourself! i know wish definitely has a lot of schedules, and you’ve been flying everywhere, but i do hope you’re getting enough rest as well!

also--if you’re ever willing to come out for a drink ( • ̀ω•́  )✧ call me out even if my alcohol is kinda.. trash. we can get drunk all we like at my apartment whether its day or night. its the company that counts after all. 

i hope you like the aroma candle scent that i chose for you! take care of yourself and...message me!

as per usual, it’s eunjae’s manager that reminds them they were supposed to have already recorded their christmas cover.

there was an extra pressure for them to do that, due to their position as a main vocalist – one of the most seniors in the industry as of late – and the fact that they had showed up plenty of times at the variety as it’s running. eunjae doesn’t really mind, as it barely takes them any time at all to do something like this, but it is slightly annoying that there’s no indication other than for them to just record themselves singing any christmas song they can think of.

in true honesty, eunjae doesn’t even like christmas songs. it could be ironic, considering they have never made their love for ballads and slow tempo a secret and those tend to be how must christmas songs go but it’s more so that the holiday had never held any meaning to them whatsoever. not only it really isn’t as much of a big deal in south korea as in other parts of the world, but eunjae’s family never really had money for gifts and christmas traditions as they were growing up, much less interest. it was just like any other day at their household, and there’s no nostalgia for them to associate that date to. they only really started listening to christmas songs after they moved to the trainee dorms, as some of the boys would blast them during the day and eunjae had to face the reality that they were far too removed from the majority of their peers, for yet another reason.

they never cared to get into it either.

but as the years passed, decipher had done enough schedules during christmas for eunjae to have learned some songs and to kind of understand what people saw in the holidays. still, they believed it was a complete invention of capitalism to sell more shit and chose not to partake in it.

pyung sat in the dorm muling over the question. what does home mean to him? if he was being honest, he couldn’t give you a concise answer. home had so many definitions. it wasn’t a place. it was a person. a feeling. his brothers felt like home. being with someone he cared about felt like home. he hasn't felt like he was home for a while. he doesn’t remember when it started happening. not that he would ever reveal that to his fans.  

he got up from the couch and decided that it was time to get it over with. he walked to his room and got out his camera once again. he sat at the table and set the camera up on the table. he switched it on and waved. “hello my name is pyung and i’m lead rapper one of charm.” he smiled into the camera as he waved. “home to me is a place where you feel safe.” for pyung home was a person, or two. his house never felt like a home. he felt more at home in his brothers apartment then he ever did in his parents house. “somewhere that you feel loved and appreciated. it doesn’t have to be a place. a home can be a person or a group of people.” he missed his home. in his brothers embrace where he felt like anything could happen and he’d survive. “for me your house and your home are completely different entities. a house is where you stay. a home is where you want to be.” he sighed and waved into the camera. he turned off the camera and said goodbye.

it was also her luck that the sbs didn't need have them another option. along with the fact that she'd be able to do a simple voice message. it was a nice thing and she it was something she would not take for granted. but now they had to move onto the hard part, telling them what home meant to her. it was something she thought about all day, because she wasn't sure what home meant to her.

life with her family? that wasn't a home. it was a hell-house and she hated it. she enjoyed not being there. but what could she say that wouldn't sound so boring or depressed, how noticeable would it be if she didn't mention her family at all? there was the chance they wouldn't air her clip and that got her moving, pulling out her cellphone to record the voice note. introducing herself since it wouldn't be obvious right off the bat. and when she didn't say anything for a moment, nari started the voice note over again.

another introduction and she pushed on. "to me, home really isn't about the place, i think any place can become your home." because when she thought about it, the wish dorm was the closet thing she had to a home. sure, she wanted to be alone because she felt overwhelmed but it was easy to admit it as hard sometimes. when she realized how empty her own house sounded at times. it was also a safe way not to talk to much about her family, she'd be able to gloss over it a bit more. "home is a place where you feel warm..and you have people that support you." another pause and she pulled the phone away to clear her throat.
