Was worried about bringing Seph to flyball because of her issues but she’s been killing it, did mat time 2 days including with a dog she hates. Learned to ignore the dogs racing and has only had some reactions today (she’s definitely mentally popped). So proud of her and grateful that I get to learn so much with such a cool little dog

This fuckin dog, she wants to stay so bad. So I haven’t done flyball with her since last year, partly because of her ccl stuff and partly because she was being an idiot and I’d just get mad. So I treated her like a brand new dog, we did recalls, passing and then drills to practice lineups (I opted to have her go to a food bowl and recall to a tug). In every scenario she stayed focused, she only went near other dogs to steal their toys, which I can work on. She held it together much better with dogs doing full runs around her and then at the end stayed in a down while a new dog was working.
I guess pretending she didn’t exist for a few months aside from walks was helpful
Yesterday at flyball practice Essie ran for a kid and I can’t stop thinking about it 🥰
This dog I wasn’t sure would ever play Flyball. This dog that was scared of people and especially suspicious of kids and reactive in busy environments. This dog that was happy to let an unfamiliar child hold her and cue her and give her treats 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

Too dead tired yesterday to update, but Essie’s team finished 5/8. Essie ran full time and earned 400 points toward her FM!

Results for end of day 1. Tournament format is 2 day so R2 team may still have a chance to win their division. Essie’s O2 team unfortunately isn’t fast enough to make points on any reruns so they have more NF than W/L. 200 points is a real nice boost toward her FM, though! It’ll be a while, she has a few thousand to go still.
