i got back home on the 31st yay!!! happy to be home :) but iāll probably start missing my family again asap. i bought some new clothes while i was in turkey (everythingās from pull and bear; itās my favorite european store!!) also reread a childhood favorite book of mine: and then there were none. did anyone else go through an agatha christie phase/addiction in middle school ??
also!!! got my ap scores back (ap language + world history) and got 5ā²s on both??? (for non-us folk, thatās the highest score you can get) i feel over the moon considering i got a 2 last year on ap gov :) excited to save some money in college now

happy to say that this year: YES! somehow i got back into the groove of reading and iām trying to do it every day. since june, iāve read the road less traveled, the girls (by emma cline), (i attempted) a portrait of the artist as a young man, and how the garcia girls lost their accent. currently about to start a couple of novels by ian mcewan! most of this is prep for my ap lit class haha :)

iāve started to drive myself to field hockey practices! thereās something so freeing about the sweet solitude of driving alone in the evenings. i made a playlist specifically for car drives and itās just really nice to get this kind of alone time
also now that itās (kind of) getting warmer here, iāve begun to go to the park after school to read! iām almost done withĀ last night at the telegraph club, and i couldnāt recommend it enough :) iāve never been exposed to that much wlw media thanks to my parents so itās been really comforting to be able to relate to a piece of art like this. (also has some much needed chinese-american rep!! and itās historical fiction!!! need i say more bro)
anyways! thatās pretty much it from me. had been struggling with some depressive slumps over the winter but i think iām starting to feel okay again now :) hope youāre all doing ok as well!!

AGH IM FINISHED WITH JUNIOR YEAR!!! FINALLY!! i may have not gotten the straight aās i was hoping for, but i worked my ass off and thatās what matters! now to stress about college for the entire summer :)

24th july - would you prefer your summer to be shorter or longer?
honestly? maybe a bit shorter. i feel like the days tend to blur together during summer break and not having school to focus on seems to make my mental health even worse :/ anyways! i'm very excited for senior year as you can tell haha

1st July - What are your plans for this summer?
lots of traveling, working as a camp counselor in august, makin some sweet sweet money to save up for college, playing the new sims expansion pack (!!), and hanging out with friends as much as possible before schoolwork begins to bury me alive again :)
2nd July - Do you have a specific goal for this summer?
i want to study really well for my sat in late august!! (iāve already made some great progress) also i want to get a lot of college app stuff out of the way (write some more practice essays bc i donāt like my current one, get my letters of rec in place, figure out my major, etc)
3rd July - Do you have a lot of work to do for school, university or your job this summer?
ooo ok we have to read a book and write an assignment for it for ap lit this year (except i think we start that once we get back to school?). also i need to do a bunch of summer hw for ap calc, but thatās pretty much it! and then i have a job for 2 weeks in august (as mentioned above hehe)

traveling to turkey to see my family!! staying in a couple of villas (thereās a lot of us!) and then my grandmaās old summer apartment for ~5 days

going to turkey! a lifelong tradition since i was a lil baby :) last year we couldnāt go so this yearās extra special. also my first time doin a summer job!!

ooh probably one of the many from my grandmaās little summer apartment here. i have an 11 yo cousin so we share a lot of memories like running to buy our anneanne her newspaper in the convenience store downstairs, finding fish underwater at the local beach, staying up late gorging on magnum ice cream bars :)

oooh one time after flying into istanbul to stay with aforementioned cousin and my aunt, we all traveled to london for about a week! i loved that so so much, we never could really afford to go anywhere else for vacation so that was super memorable for me.

swimming with my family in oludeniz, (calledĀ āblue lagoonā) a super pretty beach area. we swam to a little island and then jumped off its cliff :)))
12th July - What is the worst vacation you have ever been on?
oh god ok vomit tw for this one but one time my aunt, cousin, mom, and i traveled back to istanbul after staying at my grandmaās in ayvalik and we had to take a boat for a couple of hours. everyone on the boat (and it was a big one) for some reason started vomiting everywhere. i was i think the only one who wasnāt sick so it was hell haha
13th July - What is your dream vacation?
like a month-long roadtrip around france!!!! iāve wanted to go there since i was in elementary school

at home, i usually wake up anywhere from 7am to 10am, take my dog for 2+ walks, read a ton, and avoid work ;)

itās pretty tough! iām hoping to study daily in my townās library for my sat once i get back home in august. i think thatāll be pretty handy!

oh outdoors thereās no ac here so weāre constantly heading over to the beach
but at home in the us, probably indoors

nOOOOOO i love any season/month that allows me to wear sweaters and pants, so obviously iām not a big fan of summer

oh hm iām not sure... most of the women in my family always wear bikinis when we go to the beach and i just really hate them? idk haha
also i think summer camps are kinda weird but thatās probably because i never went to one as a kid

rather cool in the later afternoon. i also love how it smells there-- lots of freshly-cut lawns, grills constantly being used, the hydrangeas in our backyard
